Chronic Disease Prevention

Community-Based Programing

In communities across the nation, the YMCA (Y) is a leading voice on health and well-being. For over 15 years, the Y has driven innovation in prevention and control of chronic disease to improve quality of life, save lives, and reduce healthcare spending. With support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Y delivers tangible results in scientific evidence-based chronic disease prevention and control. Across America, Ys are increasing opportunities and policies promoting physical activity, expanding health and wellness initiatives, and offering health care solutions and education outside the traditional healthcare model.

The Greater Johnstown Community YMCA is proud to offer a wide-variety of chronic disease prevention and control programs and meeting the expanding needs of our region. In 2019, Cambria County ranked among the lowest counties in Pennsylvania in health outcomes. Taking a community-based approach to health care, our team is able to deliver medical care and education in a community setting at low or no cost as part of our mission to combat chronic diseases in our region.
