Child Watch Staff

Under the direction of the Child Watch Coordinator, the Child Watch staff will conduct babysitting services in compliance with the YMCA of the USA guidelines. Must demonstrate a commitment to the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.  

Skills & Qualifications

  • 0-3 years experience working in childcare settings
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification. All three clearances: FBI Fingerprinting, Child Abuse History, and Criminal Background
  • Babysitting certification for those under the age of 18
  • Strong verbal and written communication and listening skills appropriate for interacting with children, parents, and co-workers in all areas of the  YMCA
  • Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for a child
  • Customer service experience a plus
Job Responsibilities
  • Keep appropriate records such as attendance and check in procedures for all participants
  • Responsible for answering questions of participants and parents
  • Maintain the highest level of safety in all activities
  • Maintain professional appearance by wearing appropriate dress
  • Maintain a clean and safe area and the care of equipment
  • Focus on children in your care
  • Change diapers of infants and toddlers
  • Check for communicated information at Child Watch or other designated area before the start of shift
  • Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to bend and stoop occasionally
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
