Zing Allsopp

Zing Allsopp joined the Greater Johnstown Y staff in September 2020 as a strength trainer and technical instructor for swimmers of all levels. Previously head coach for Fort Bend Masters Swimming (adults), Fort Bend Christian Academy Swim Team (middle and high school, and Sugar Creek Gators in Sugar Land, Texas, Coach Zing brings over 10 years of coaching and leadership experience. She graduated from Rice University in Houston with a B.Mus. and M.Mus. in music theory, founded and developed a homeschool choral program and, shortly afterwards, a swim program catering to homeschooling families. She is affiliated with the International Youth Conditioning Association, American Swimming Coaches Association, International Swim Coaches Association, United States Masters Swimming, and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Originally from Singapore, Coach Zing is happy to call Johnstown home, not only for the beautiful rolling Pennsylvania hills but the welcome changes of the four seasons. Her husband, Joe — a Johnstown native —is glad to be back on home ground after more than 30 years in Texas. They have two adult sons and a daughter-in-law, still in Texas, and a cute mutt named Paddington who loves PA weather and the Wilmore Dam.
